Program Questions
Are coaches available 24/7?
Coaches are on site from noon – 8:00pm Monday – Friday. On Saturdays a coach is on site from 9:00am – 2:00pm.
Sundays are a day for everyone to practice their independence and keep themselves on the schedule they have practiced all day, so no coaches are on site on Sundays.
Are meals provided?
Walden provides one meal per week. Every Friday we either cook as a good with food that Walden buys or once per month we will go out to eat, (Walden’s treat). The other meals you are responsible for making and buying.
What do I need to bring?
We provide a fully furnished apartment for you, from bed linens, towels, dishes and cooking utensils all the way to toilet paper, laundry detergent and more. You are only responsible for your personal items (clothes, cosmetics and food).
What does independent living mean?
It means that when you are at Walden and not working on treatment assignments, we want you to live exactly as you would if you were living independently. This gives you the opportunity to try living independently out, with support. You can learn how to do things you may have never felt confident enough to try. This also means, you can have your computer and your cell phone and if you have some hobbies you would like to bring to incorporate into your daily living, this is a perfect opportunity!
Financial Planning
How much does it cost be at Walden?
We charge by the month and our rate is $3,400 per month. We are also able to invoice 2 weeks at a time if needed.
How is the cost broken up?
Our cost comes out to $110 per day that the resident is at Walden. This is broken down for the residents room/board as well life coaching and support. Each month it costs $1800 for room/board and $1800 for coaching. We take a great deal of pride in the amount of time we spend with our residents as a group and individually to help you feel fully confident for your next step in recovery.
Does insurance cover Walden?
Unfortunately, it is very difficult to get life coaching covered by insurances but sometimes it happens. We can send you a broken down receipt for you to submit it to your insurance company. They would only cover the coaching portion, not housing.
How to Be Supportive During Recovery
How can I support my loved one while they are at Walden?
If you know of certain life skills that your loved one needs to develop in order to live a healthy, confident life, we welcome you to give us a call or send an email sharing that so that we can discuss it with the resident and see if thats an avenue they would like to try. The biggest thing you can do to be supportive is listening and validating your loved one. You may not entirely understand what they are going through, but you can be an anchor of support by just listening.
